The SVG grid is made up of guides and it’s in ledger/tabloid dimensions. In Inkscape, you can switch them on/off in the View menu. 

Also, you can lock/unlock them: On the upper left corner, where the rulers intersect, there’s a little icon you can click. 

Finally, I put some light grey rectangles to highlight margins, but you can get rid of them if you want. 

The PowerPoint grid is also for ledger/tabloid, but instead it’s added as an image. It’s locked as a layer, so you can work with it without moving things around. 

To unlock it, or just get rid of it, go to Home > Editing > Select > Selection Pane. Then, unlock the lock icon, which will allow you to delete the grid image, if you want.
